Still going... learning more things about watercolors, also about shading and image focus (Where does your eye go?) and contrast and darkness (purple! purple! purple!). I am still far, far too hesitant with the laying on of dark color, which is why I'm putting down so many layers of paint, and this is probably not the most effective watercolor technique.

Questions for you:

Where does your eye go, and is it the right place?
What should be darker, and how should I darken it?
What shadows need to stretch to where?

Painting with Jackson watercolor paints mostly, and occasional Angora Deckfarben (opaque paints from Germany). Windsor & Newton Cotman water color 140 lb. paper, 10 inches x 7 inches.

I don't do watercolor much but I have a friend who is incredible. And it takes her months to do a painting because she puts on layers and layers of color to get the richness she wants. I wish she had a website so you could see her work. It's unbelievable. So anyway, I think putting down many layers of paint isn't a problem. This is coming along well. My eye is drawn to the genie(?) first then flows down to the sleeping person. I think it looks great so far.
