My husband brought home some very absorbent paper. Turns out this paper is terrible for watercolor but not too bad for chalk or pastel or colored pencil. It's quite white and has some tooth and can handle some pressure. So I stayed up way too late last night just trying it out.
I'm pleased with the trees and the background lighting (though not so much the angle consistency). I think I like the skin tones too, though I know there's room to improve. Other things that I would do differently next time are the glow and the wings (though the wings really stumped me; I need to use references next time for a more plausible angle).
